Locative Praxis: The Politics and Practices of [New] Locative Media – Andrea Zeffiro

In The Persistence of Vision, Donna Haraway urges, “one cannot relocate in any possible vantage point without being accountable for that movement. Vision is always a question of the power to see” (Haraway, 1988, p 287). Locative Praxis is fundamentally an engagement with memory, particularly as a technique in fieldwork. Vis-à-vis Giulio Camillo’s conceptualization of the Teatro della Memoria (Memory Theatre), this work involves mapping and narrativizing Almost Perfect. The goal of this project is to complicate theoretical currents informing locative media practice and advance reflexive research methods, which involves making visible the practices and processes of production, not only in relation to locative media, but also in terms of the methodological considerations that shape emerging fields.
